The MP for Liverpool Riverside and Chair of the Commons Transport Select Committee was invited to Suttons UK head office in Widnes to hear more about the growth and continued global expansion of the business.
Mrs Ellman met with Suttons Transport Group’s Board including John Sutton CEO and Tony Leighton, Suttons Tanker Division Managing Director.
Following the meeting Mrs Ellman was given a guided tour or the premises and introduced to Suttons Tanker Division apprentice Luc Edwards and Amanda Allen a skilled welder working for Suttons International Division.
The site tour allowed Mrs Ellman to take a look inside the international workshop where the Suttons team tests, repairs and maintains its ISO tank containers and the road tankers workshop where the fleet is rigorously tested and maintained, ensuring the highest levels of safety and operational compliance. She also visited the tank container and road tanker wash bay and went inside the Suttons demonstration tank container.
Suttons is one of the fastest growing businesses in the UK, specialising in the transport of bulk liquids, powders and gases around the world.
John Sutton, CEO of Suttons commented: “As Chair of the Commons Transport Select Committee we were delighted to welcome Louise Ellman MP to our UK headquarters and show her how the business continues to be a domestic and international success. She was interested in the Group’s high standards of safety and maintenance and interested to meet some of our young apprentices who represent the future of our business. It was also very interesting to share our thoughts on the transport and logistics industry, discussing some of the key issues arising in the sector.”
