Industries that work with various types of gases can face many challenges. One of which is that gas needs to be stored and transported correctly as it can be dangerous when not handled appropriately.
This can turn into a logistical nightmare for some companies who may not have the equipment or knowledge to transport their products. It’s for this very reason that you may need to employ the services of a bulk gas logistics company who can safely transport various types of gas.
At Suttons Tankers we have a fleet of specialised gas tankers that can store and transport gases such as cryogenic gases, pressurised gases and carbon dioxide.
What is gas logistics?
Gas logistics involves efficiently transporting and storing various gas types from their origin to their final destination.
In gas logistics, the main aim is to get the gas to its destination safely but in a timely manner also.
How is gas transported?
Transporting dangerous goods such as gases means that it must be transported using the right types of tanks such as zinc-lined, stainless steel, cryogenic and pressurised gas tanks.
Sutton Tankers have the ability to transport liquified natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). This gives our customers an advantage as it compacts the gas and more can be transported as a result of this. The more gas we can carry the lower the cost for the customer.
Do you need any accreditations to transport gas?
When transporting dangerous goods such as gas all vehicles used must be compliant with the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations (CDG Regulations).
Drivers must carry documentation when transporting dangerous goods, this includes:
● Instructions in writing of the dangerous goods
● A vocational training certificate which is specific to the class of dangerous goods they are carrying
Every person involved in the transportation process needs to have the appropriate training and accreditation. At Suttons Tankers, our drivers and staff have all the accreditations and training needed to handle dangerous goods such as gas.
What are the dangers involved with transporting gas?
There are hydrocarbons in liquified gas which makes it a highly combustible liquid. If it is not handled correctly then it could cause huge amounts of damage if it combusts, and also cause fatalities.
Gas of this nature must follow strict storage requirements so that it is kept away from heat sources and kept at the correct temperature.
Sutton Tankers have the ability to transport liquefied gas safely and our impeccable track record can attest to this.
Can I change gas logistics providers?
If you find yourself in a situation where you want to change your provider but want to avoid heaps of paperwork, then there is no need to worry. At Sutton Tankers we have a thorough understanding of Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment), also known as TUPE.
This is when a service within a business is transferred to a new provider. Therefore, if you choose to transfer to us as your gas provider we can help you make the switch. Which means less admin and paperwork for you to worry about.
