Suttons Tankers’ 2023-24 Streamlined Energy and Carbon Report (SECR)

We are excited to share our 2023-24 Streamlined Energy and Carbon Report (SECR), marking our first year of independent reporting on our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy consumption. This report reflects our commitment to sustainability and transparency as we work towards our long-term goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2040.

Despite the challenges of decarbonising the transportation sector—especially in the transport of dangerous goods (ADR)—we are proud of the significant progress we’ve made in reducing our environmental impact. Some key highlights from the report include:

Scope 1 Emissions: 41,020.7 tonnes of CO2e, showing a 6.4% reduction compared to the previous year.

Scope 2 Emissions: 227 tonnes of CO2e, with zero emissions from electricity under a renewable energy tariff.

Sustainable Fuel Trials: Promising results from Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) trials, with over 80% CO2e reduction.

Energy Efficiency Initiatives: Introduction of the “Switch It Off” campaign and ongoing feasibility studies for solar panel installation at our head office.

Carbon Reduction Action Plan: It outlines a strategic roadmap for reducing emissions across our fleet, utilities, and supply chain, ensuring that we deliver life’s essentials safely and sustainably.

By continuing to invest in sustainable technologies, energy efficiency, and alternative fuels, we are proud to lead the way in creating a greener future for the logistics and transportation industry.
